223 - speaking of which

here's a music video from mark ronson with an uncanny resemblance to the jessica rabbit scene from "who framed roger rabbit". the animation is alright but all in all it just doesn't hold the same craftsmanship that jessica's stage scene does.

first of all the animation is amazing. moving a character beautifully through all those camera shifts and perspectives with a 2d character is pure genius. the weight of this animation that i feel out weights the previous is the way the animator keeps you engaged the whole time and makes the character strong and in charge of everyone in the audience. jessica would walk all over the character above.

anyway, this video is one of mark's better ones.

so for the last month i've been hearing this track at probably the envy of every hot blooded teenage girl. anyway the reason why is because wicked pixels made this video. i got to do some robot designs for this project.

here's a dutch chap that sings afrikaans in a way that to me doesn't sound insulting. like i said to stephan the other day, i'd rather speak afrikaans with a strong english accent than put on the afrikaans accent because it just sounds like i'm speaking like an idiot.

so the buzz around the studio is that distric 9 is doing well. Admittedly after my comments on invictus, i have to say that the 'apartheid' theme in this movie is well used. i hope we see more of this sort of film making coming out of south africa.

so this is the new movie about the south african rugby team. not really that keen for it. i'm tired of seeing movies about south africa that always revolve around apartheid. there is actually more to this country and it's people. anyway, i am currious to hear matt damon's accent. leonardo dicaprio sounded like a south african exagerating a south african accent and he was suppossed to be zimbabwean. hats off for the effort though, it is a notoriously difficult accent to pull off.

above is Bon Iver. i like his style. took some getting use to his very deep soul searching tempo but considering he wrote the album in a wood cabin while battling mononucleosis is just beyond legendous. he was part of a band called DeYarmond Edison that split. he went the log cabin way and they went the Megafaun way...
