223 - speaking of which

here's a music video from mark ronson with an uncanny resemblance to the jessica rabbit scene from "who framed roger rabbit". the animation is alright but all in all it just doesn't hold the same craftsmanship that jessica's stage scene does.

first of all the animation is amazing. moving a character beautifully through all those camera shifts and perspectives with a 2d character is pure genius. the weight of this animation that i feel out weights the previous is the way the animator keeps you engaged the whole time and makes the character strong and in charge of everyone in the audience. jessica would walk all over the character above.

anyway, this video is one of mark's better ones.

076 - Light at The End of The World

Here's a well crafted film using mixed mediums. The creator also has a blog explaining the process.

074 - Akon, T-pain, and Snoop Dog

I know...you never saw this one coming. Why would any of these guys interest me never mind a combination of them. However this piece of animation did amuse me...if only just.

Here's a link to the creators and there's a storyboard sequence as well...something I do a lot of.

I remember watching these fantastic pieces of animation a while back. Overjoyed to see them adorning the cyberspace. They also did a series on Jeffrey Chaucer.

069 - Upcoming Animation Films

Pixar/Disney

Bolt: 2008

pity this doesn't look anything like the concept art.

Up: 2009

The Princess and the Frog: 2009

2D animation...been a while since we've seen hand drawn animation from these guys.

Rapunzel: 2010

It's been about 300yrs since it's development so it better be worth the wait.

Toy Story 3: 2010

Cause we can't milk it enough.

Newt: 2011

Cars 2

No, no, no, no, no...pull out the battery, throw it on the floor, bash it with a 10ft barge pole, burn it and throw it off the edge of a bottomless pit.

The Bear and the Bow

I really hope they keep the character designs as close to these concept sketches as they can.

059 - confined to my desk chair

I'm working really late, kind of feel like breaking free from my desk.

Mathieu Labaye's
Orgesticulanismus.

Great tribute to his father Benoît Labaye, suffered from a multiple sclerosis at 29 years old. Benoît Labaye had been confined to a wheelchair since age 40 and died at 55 years old on the 22nd of April 2006, as a result of a pneumonia.

054 - Sigur Rós

I went with Dyls on Sunday to see his folks and as we were walking to the car he started singing 'White Winter Hymnal' by Fleet Foxes to which I started singing along as well. He asked me where I had heard them from and I said I had seen an animation with their track on it, which turns out to be their music video for the song. Anyway we listened to the track in the car and he also introduced me to a band I hadn't heard of before called 'Sigur Rós and it just so happened that I've found an animation with one of the tracks from Sigur Rós. So here it is Dyl.

053 - Olympics

Watched the opening of the Olympics and man was it cool, although having said that I think it could have gone beyond what it did. I think they may have held back a bit at the risk of boring people like they did with the Athens opening.
Anyway fond this little clip from the UK for the BBC's Olympic coverage. Character designs by Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn. The story will be known to most of you, for those who don't know it's the 16th century Chinese 'Journey to the West' story.

Great tunes...
Great animation...

043 - adam philips

I had a look around for some information on v-cams in flash and come across the old ‘bitey castle’ site. I see that Philips has a new animation up, well at least since I looked it up. It’s very cool, his knowledge and craft of flash really has gone far.

027 - radiohead

Laith Bahrani has done a rather impressive piece of painstaking animation for an acoustic version of Radiohead’s 'Creep' song.

Done in Flash, and such a nice layout featuring the timeline in Flash. Something I stare at all day.

015 - musica

Here's some art work for a musica ad. I loved working on this project, they wanted the stalks to look like Gwen Stefani and Akon for there CD sales. I did all the pieces in Photoshop and animated it in Flash.
