Well, I went off this weekend to a farm not far from Montague with the intention of just chilling but the purpose of going there was to do a hike; starting from 24:00hrs and ending around sunrise. As the event drew to conclusion several people pulled out and there was an opportunity for me to take up the 30km challenge. Being someone who always plans these things in advance and taking all necessary precautions I dawned my slip on shoes, tracksuit pants, fleece jacket, borrowed beanie and headlamp, and I was ready to go.

So I did about 13km with Andrew, we pretty much took it easy and chatted much of the way. It was majestic, the moon was almost full and the whole feeling of being in the fresh air and wilderness was worth every step. Andrew and I had a good heart to heart about life, woman, Wes Anderson and about being cool. The only downside to the whole thing was at the end of our 13km we had a shot of Muskadel (like a sweet desert wine...supposed to help energise you) anyway it was sickly sweet and kept me up until 6:00am flying forth into the great outdoors.

On the way there we stopped and had sandwiches, we parked next to a river near some train tracks. So Andrew went a bounding towards the tracks and we like sheep naturally followed the revolutionary. The tracks were in the middle of nowhere and had this whole old vibe to it. Anyway I set up the camera for a group shot (someone made the remark "imagine if a train came around the corner out of nowhere) and while I was doing this I heard this scratching and looked behind me to see a train heading steadily towards us. So we quickly scrambled off to the side and the train came rushing past...you know there's something to be said about that moment when a train blurs past and the feeling just after it ends. We stood there for a while taking in the moment...then this random guy came out of a bush and asked us for smokes. So we took that as an opportunity to hit the road again.

We also played around with the ostriches on the farm. Ran along the fence with one and tried to feed it chips on a stick so it didn't bite our fingers. Loads of fun until it tried to hop the fence, after which we steadily moved on. All in all it was a sweet weekend...and now I'm sore!
